The burning question of the day: blog or twitter? My opinion on this is probably clear, but for those who are uncertain check the Home page... This question has been troubling also the members of Linkin Park lately - the sophisticated debate among Mike and Phoenix is little by little turning into a war... The latter part of Mike Shinoda's amazing art show Glorious Excess opens in the Japanese-American National Museum in Los Angeles on 29th August and you are able to go and see his works all the way until 4th October. The first part of the show, Glorious Excess (Born), took place in 2008 and came out to be a huge success. Here is how Mike describes the idea behind the show in his blog:
'Glorious Excess is about obsession with celebrity culture, consumer addiction, and fascination with excess. The show follows a nameless celebrity character as he indulges in the sex, drugs, and rock n roll lifestyle. In this show [Glorious Excess (Dies)], he grows to the limits of his fame, reveling without moderation in the excesses of modern celebrity until he implodes.' If you only have a chance to go and see the show I warmly recommed for you to do so! :) For those unfortunate human-beings (myself included...) who are not able to see the works for real, go to mikeshinoda.com where Mike has promised to keep us updated on what is going on with the show. There is also a book coming out at some point in which all the works of the show are presented. More info on the show, see: http://www.mikeshinoda.com/notes/notes/info_on_glorious_excess_dies - Heidi - Okey, I thought that it would be great to write down my opinion on the movies I watch, probably in the future also about the books I read, music I listen to etc. So, here is the first one: Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince! I went to see this one in the theatre some weeks ago with my friends. Please, don't draw any conclusions about my taste of movies based on this! :) I used to be a big fan of Harry Potter's when I was younger but nowadays I watch the movies and read the books rather because I have seen and read all the previous ones. :) A word of warning for those that have not seen the movie or read the book yet, this does include some spoilers!
About the movie itself... I have to admit that I really enjoyed the movie and found it as a positive surprise. I absolutely hated the previous movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and since this one was also directed by David Yates I prepared for the worst. Which luckily came out to be unnecessarily. I have read some reviews about the movie from newspapers and I remember that at least one of the reviewers thought that the movie was too faithful to the plot of the book and therefor disliked it. I agree with him, but I find it only positive. It's been a while since I read the book but as far as I remember there was nothing important missing, but on the other hand the movie didn't come out to be too long. I think that the romance perspective was slightly overexaturated and the fact that it was brought up so rapidly and clearly made it seem even pretentious and ridigilous at times. I thought that they went too far with Dumbledore asking Harry about his feelings towards Hermione and so on. Dumbledore is just not the person to give advice in those things. ;) The actors were successful with hardly no exceptions and I was especially glad to see more acting by Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy. He did really good job with reflecting Draco's feelings in the hard situation he was facing. The death of Dumbledore is well done: it comes out to be a really emotional moment unlike the death of Sirius in the previous movie. I left missing the funeral, but when I really thought about it the ending was fine without it. The special effects are used massively but successfully and the result looks really impressive. :) So there was something about the movie. For those wondering whether to go and see it or not I definitely recommend to go for it! Especially for those that have read the book. The movie might not be perfect but I think that it is a great visualisation about J.K. Rowling's book. From you I'd love to hear opinions on the movie! I'll be back to post more soon. :) - Heidi - Here we go! The very first post to my brand new blog. :) I am really excited about this and hoping that someone will actually find their way here to read this. I have considered starting my own blog already for some time. After reading other peoples blogs I slowly started to get excited about the idea myself. The thought of people all around the world reading what I find interesting really fascinates me. :) |
